What are ambassadors?
Ambassadors are leaders in the community who support your community, multiplying your efforts as a leader.
Typically, excitement for the ambassador position is overwhelming.
Responsibilities may include:
Welcoming new members
Leading circles. Ambassadors love taking on responsibility. Task them with leading a circle based on their interest. They can initiate discussions, pose questions, create polls, and support others.
Self-organizing meetups about relevant topics
How to select ambassadors:
Here are a few ways our most successful communities nominate ambassadors:
Transfer existing leaders. Do you already have leaders in your community? These should be your first choice.
Identify your most active members in the leaderboard. Quickly identify who are your top members. These members are already engaged and active in the community and would most likely make great candidates for ambassadors. You can let your community know this is how you choose and reach out personally.
Call for ambassador applications. Create an announcement and link to a google form with a few screening questions. Here is an example. Choose the applicants that stand out to you and connect with your mission.
Recommended: 3-15 ambassadors. It's a good idea to pick a mix of locations so that you can have a spread of timezones.
Tips for ambassador success:
Delegate. Consider nominating a lead ambassador who will oversee the others on your behalf.
Communicate with your ambassadors. Create a private circle where you can communicate effectively.
Get together once a month. Hold an ambassador virtual meetup around once a month. It's a great chance for you to get feedback on your initiatives.
